Former South Korean Prime Minister Congratulated BTS On Their Win At The 2021 Billboard Music Awards

BTS were nominated for 4 Billboard Music Awards, “Top Selling Song (Dynamite)”, “Top Song Sales Artist,” “Top Duo/Group,” and “Top Social Artist” (5th win) and they won in all the categories. They have received congratulatory messages from fans, celebrities and personalities. BTS’ home town South Korea has always been proud of the 7 men who have changed the world’s view and made it to become more interested in South Korea. BTS are South Korea’s pride. Former South Korean Prime Minister, Chung Sye-kyun tweeted his congratulatory message after BTS won the four awards.

After BTS released their single “Idol,” the National Gugak Center had to expand the amount of Korean instrument sounds available due to increased demand from Korean and foreign producers alike. K-pop idol groups also began changing the themes of their lyrics from love stories to words such as “looking for myself” following BTS’ “Love Yourself” era and RM’s speech at the United Nations.

In October 2018, BTS was awarded a fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit from the President of South Korea for their contributions in spreading Korean culture and language.

The Order of Cultural Merit  is one of South Korea’s orders of merit. It is awarded by the President of South Korea for “outstanding meritorious services in the fields of culture and art in the interest of promoting the national culture and national development.”
